JAHLION SOUND MOVEMENTS

JahLion Sounds has been in existence since late 2004 but started getting recognition in 2005. The Sound consists of the one and only, The Mighty JahLion. JahLion always had a strong interest in various types of music. Around the age of 13, JahLion developed a strong drive to acquire as much music as possible, even if it meant getting on a taxi and riding from Frederiksted to Christiansted, just to get one CD. JahLion’s goal was to keep building his collection until he became unstoppable. JahLion would sit down for hours at a time while he burned music.

Over time, collection grew to the point where he was in heavy demand. Ask anyone who went to the Educational Complex between 2004 and 2005 where they got all the latest music from; nine times out of ten they will respond, “Yea man, I duh geh my chune dem from JahLion.” Little did JahLion know, the groundwork for the JahLion Sound Movement, had just been set.

Whether down by the Frederiksted Fish market on Sunday afternoons, or being inside a club for which he was too young to legally be in, JahLion’s main focus, was on the DJ. He observed Sound Systems such as Trinity, AfterDark, Glamorous, Kulcha Shock, Death Row and Da Krunkmaster Dj Slik, while imagining himself “Bussin Di Place” like them one day. JahLion’s fascination with the turntables, seeing the crowd’s reaction to certain songs, and the endless encouragement from DJ Slik and DJ Fresh, motivated him to the point where he would do what he destined to do, bring the JahLion Sound Movement into existence!

JahLion’s ambition and desire has helped him attain his some of his many Sound Movement goals. JahLion has played at many large venues in St. Croix and abroad, but the most recent was the Crunk Energy Drink, and DJ Slik’s Birthday Bashment, brought to you by Top Shottah Ent. and DJS Ent. Currently JahLion aspires to have the JahLion Sound Movement a household name, playing and stereos and jams globally. This will definitely help JahLion to put the Virgin Islands on the map!

In his new mixed tape, “Pon Di Gully Side,” JahLion made sure that he featured a number of artists from the Virgin Islands such as: Rock City, Steelo I.B., Sincere, Prya, Deh Fam, and Chippie Banton. He is involved with these artists in addition, but not limited to: X-Kaliba, King Lyon, Cruz Rock, De Apostle; Fyah King; Dezarie, Midnite, Steelo I.B., Ras Attitude, Batch, Volcano, Artillery, Afyah, Iras 2, and Bigzz…. Be sure to look out for these artists. They are on the rise!
